Sawadee Ka! This year’s adventure vacation was one for the senses. Thailand delivered everything I thought it would and so much more. Our group of 37 managed the long flight and arrived in Bangkok ready for discovery. Our first guide, “Tan” was full of knowledge and had a great sense of humor. We spent 4 days learning a bit of the language, culture and visiting some of the most beautiful temples we’ve ever seen. We traveled the waterways, toured the city and saw some very interesting shows featuring the infamous and beautiful “lady-boys.”
Our next flight landed us in mysterious Chiang Mai. Thailand’s northern capital allowed us to temp our adventurous side and our guide Saneh took very good care of us. Here we hugged tigers, rode elephants, visited the village of the Long Neck Karen tribe and received the blessing of a Buddhist Monk. The shopping was some of the best and cheapest as we did a lot of damage with the jade dealers and numerous night markets.
The last leg of our adventure was spent along some of the most beautiful waters in the world. Phuket was a destination I’ve wanted to visit for more than 20 years and I have finally gotten the chance to lay my eyes on it. We visited the famed Phi Phi Islands, location of the movie “The Beach” with Leonardo DiCaprio. And we couldn’t miss the opportunity to visit Khao Phing Kan, the site of the James Bond movies “The Man with the Golden Gun and Tomorrow Never Dies” I was in heaven. Of course a lot of us got the world famous Thai massages – how could you miss out when they averaged $7 for an hour? This is definitely a trip I would recommend for anyone needing a great beach, awesome shopping and great food!
